Our posture influences the health of our backs and necks, and also our organs.  It affects our mental acuity and confidence.  We’ll identify posture pitfalls and supports and identify posture helpers in your life.  You’ll leave with tools to improve your posture going forward.  Beginners welcome!

Thursday, April 23 at 6:00 PM - Vastness in Shakespeare and Yoga

Shakespeare’s soaring language connects the lives of his characters to the oceans, the sky, and the whole universe, describing an interactive vastness outside and inside the people of his plays.  Yoga sees us as connected to the limitlessness of the universe and to the elements within it.  Come have fun creating inner vastness and reading some of Shakespeare’s lofty (yet accessible) language.  Beginners in yoga and Shakespeare welcome!

We will work on freeing and strengthening the arms so they can be used to create uplift and space in the body and mind.  Modifications will be available for injuries.

Saturday, April 25 at 1:30 PM - Nonviolent backbends – ahimsa and freedom in backbending

Ahimsa or nonviolence is the first principle of yoga. Many practitioners find back-bending poses painful and therefore skip them. There’s another way!  Learn to make backbends your friends and your study in ahimsa, approaching back-bending with sensitivity and creativity.   Discover what props and modifications are helpful to you in that aim.  If you avoid backbends, this is the class for you!
